RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: In most cases, treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases, including lower urinary tract infections, includes antibacterial drugs. However, their efficiency decreases every year. The absence of new groups of antibiotics makes it necessary to develop alternative treatment schemes and methods for improving efficiency of existing drugs. Systemic enzyme therapy is one of the promising directions in the treatment of lower urinary tract infections, which was shown to be effective for treating a number of diseases. AIM: to evaluate the results of complex treatment of women with chronic recurrent bacterial cystitis using a drug for systemic enzyme therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The examination and treatment of 60 women aged 19 to 45 years with an exacerbation of chronic recurrent bacterial cystitis, who were randomly divided into two groups of 30 patients, was performed. In the group 1, patients received standard antibiotic therapy. In the group 2, women additionally received Phlogenzym. An evaluation of the efficiency was carried out on the 1st, 7th and 14th day and included analysis of lower urinary tract symptoms, according to bladder diaries, assessment of pain intensity and laboratory tests (C-reactive protein [CRP], IL-6, IL-1, TNF. During long-term follow-up (6 months after completion of treatment), the relapse rate was evaluated in both groups. RESULTS: At admission, all women had clinical and laboratory signs of cystitis. By the 14th day, there was normalization of evaluated parameters in both groups. However, in patients receiving systemic enzyme therapy a more rapid relief of the inflammatory process (a decrease in the frequency of urination, urgency, nocturia, severity of inflammatory changes in the blood and urine) by the 7th day of treatment was observed. During a further 6-month follow-up, relapses were detected in 9 (30%) and 4 (13.3%) patients in group 1 and 2, respectively. CONCLUSION: The results of the study demonstrated the high efficiency of systemic enzyme therapy. Its use for complex treatment provides more rapid relief of lower urinary tract symptoms and pain, as well as reduces the number of relapses in women with chronic recurrent bacterial cystitis.

RESUMO

This paper presents results of a study involving 120 patients with infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urinary system, divided into four groups. Groups 1 and 3 included patients with acute serous non-obstructive pyelonephritis, groups 2 and 4--patients with exacerbation of chronic recurrent bacterial cystitis. Patients in groups 3 and 4 received a 10 day course of antibiotic therapy combined with Prolit super septo while patients in groups 1 and 2--only the standard antibiotic therapy. The authors studied changes in the clinical presentation, chronorhythms and psycho-emotional condition of the patients. At baseline, all patients showed signs of severe desynchronosis and psycho-emotional disorders. Combination therapy with Prolit super septo more effectively suppressed inflammation, improved clinical symptoms, corrected patient psycho-emotional status and restored normal chronorhythms regardless of the inflammation location.

RESUMO

The article presents the results of the study including 60 patients with erectile dysfunction, divided into four age groups: 20-30, 31-30, 41-50, and 51-60. All patients have received biocomplex "NeiroDoz" for two months 2 capsules 2 times a day. Clinical effectiveness was evaluated according to the ICF and ICEF questionnaires and according to the patient's subjective evaluation of the clinical efficacy; the psycho-emotional status of patients and changes in the chronograms were also analyzed. In all men with erectile dysfunction, pronounced desynchronosis and psycho-emotional disorders were revealed. The use of complex "NeiroDoz" allowed to correct erectile disorders and psycho-emotional status of patients, as well as to restore normal chronorithms in all groups of patients, regardless of age and severity of erectile dysfunction.

RESUMO

On the basis of the radionuclide specific activity measurements made on 832 samples of fish in 2009-2011 and taking into account literature data, the parameters of the stochastic model have been derived to describe the 137Cs and 90Sr contents in typical commercial fish species in the Kiev Reservoir at the late phase of the Chernobyl accident, including: statistical variability, seasonal changes and monotonous long-term trends. At any fixed moment of the year the standard deviations of logarithms of the 137Cs and 90Sr specific activities in carnivorous and benthophage fish species do not reliably differ, making up at average 0.4. The maximum vari- ation of the 137Cs specific activity (a four-fold decrease from April to November) was observed in pike. The obtained values of the ecological half-life periods for 137Cs and 90Sr (1.3-14 years) in fish of the Kiev reservoir in 2002-2012 were significantly lower than both the radioactive decay periods and the estimates of the IAEA Chernobyl Forum. Based on the obtained model parameters, the dynamics of the 137Cs and 90Sr specific ac- tivities in main commercial fish of the Kiev reservoir has been described and the risk of exceeding the permis- sible levels of these radionuclides in fish at the late phase of the Chernobyl accident has been estimated. Now the risk of catching fish with the specific activities of 137Cs and 90Sr above the permissible levels (150 Bq/kg and 35 Bq/kg, respectively) does not exceed 10% (except perch in the spring spawning period that is banned for fishing in Ukraine). Corresponding risks for roach, white bream and rudd are less than 0.1%.

RESUMO

AIM: To comparatively analyze the efficiency of combination treatment in patients with chronic prostatitis. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Psychometric and psychological methods, such as the Hamilton depression rating scale and the Hamilton anxiety rating scale, determination of the types of an attitude toward illness, and the personality rating questionnaire, were used to examine 80 men with chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP) who were allocated to 2 groups. A study group received levofloxacin in combination with adaptol for 10 days; a control group had antibacterial therapy only. RESULTS: The patients receiving adaptol were ascertained to have a more evident normalization of mental disorders, as shown by the scales, as lower scores: 4.9 +/- 0.6 for irritability, 5.7 +/- 0.6 for reactive aggression, 5.1 +/- 0.7 for shyness, and as a higher score (up to 5.2 +/- 1.3) for sociability (p < 0.05). There was a pronounced reduction in diurnal mood variations, which is indicative of relief of anxiety and depressive disorders. CONCLUSION: The use of adaptol in a dose of 500 mg thrice daily for 10 days as part of the combination treatment of patients with an exacerbation of CBP permits correction of the mental status and improves the quality of life of patients in a shorter period of treatment.

RESUMO

Activities of 137Cs and 90Sr, concentrations of the potassium and calcium ions in water and accumulation of the radionuclides in the organisms of various freshwater fish have been measured in the stagnant and semistagnant water reservoirs of Ukraine contaminated as a result of the Chernobyl accident. On the basis of the numerous experimental data for different regions the statistical parameters were derived describing the dependencies of the 137Cs and 90Sr concentration ratios in the muscle tissue of various fish species on the potassium and calcium concentrations in water, respectively.
